About the Event

Did you know there is an opioid crisis occurring in Pima County?

As of November 2020, there have been 376 opioid related deaths. These people are brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, co-workers, and friends that have passed away due to opioid misuse or abuse.

Michelle Murguia is a Community Development Specialist with the Liberty Partnership Council (LPKNC) and is a member at La Suprema Works. LPKNC was founded on serving the southside of Tucson and will continue to do as they partner with the community to prevent drug use and promote mental wellness.

In this important presentation, Michelle will share strategies that you can use to help prevent opioid misuse in your home and remind your colleagues what they can do as well. At LPKNC, they have an evidence informed prevention program that engages people to learn why a person may abuse prescription drugs, how parents and caring adults can start the dialogue about the dangers of prescription drug misuse with their children or young adults.

Michelle will also cover how to safely dispose of and safeguard medications.
