On Sunday, December 20, La Suprema hosted Rob Getlan for our second Live from La Suprema event. You can watch the class on Youtube here.
We hosted Rob Getlan for an Instant Pot class, which was also a fundraiser for I am You 360. While the event was free, we urged everyone to donate or bring in products to donate to the organization. I Am You 360 is a local nonprofit helping vulnerable and homeless youth in Tucson. We are so happy to support an organization that helps transform the lives of youth in our community. Our amazing members brought in donations throughout the week. Remember, the holiday season is all about giving!
The cooking class was so much fun! Rob Getlan, who teaches Instant Pot classes for OLLI, used our kitchen for a live-streamed event. Rob has a culinary background, working as a pastry chef in New York for 5 years. While he no longer works in the culinary arts as a profession, he is a talented cook that loves sharing recipes and tips. Just a little over a year ago, he invested in his first Instant Pot and was amazed with its ability and versatility. He teaches Instant Pot classes for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Arizona.
On Dec. 20, using our spacious kitchen area, he prepared Porcini Mushroom Risotto and French Onion Soup. The event was live-streamed on Facebook and Zoom, and the chat feature was so helpful for engaging attendees and answering questions as they followed along at home.
Community Manager Alex and I got to be the taste testers for the event and let me just say, everything was so delicious I might have to go buy my own Instant Pot!
We are so glad Rob joined us in bringing this event to the community, and we are thankful for all the donations we received. We look forward to using our kitchen for more events in the future.
